EL PROYECTO AFGANISTÁN, UN SUEÑO HECHO REALIDAD.

Al poco de marchar el Tte. José Manuel Recio (Alférez de la Guardia Civil en Jávea durante años) a su destino en Afganistán, se puso en contacto con sus antiguos compañeros del club Rotary de Jávea para recabar su ayuda en la idea de aportar algo positivo para la vida de la población afgana cercana a la base militar. Comentamos las distintas posibilidades,  alimentos, utensilios, ropa… y sobre qué colectivo actuar.
 Nos inclinamos por aportar ropa y zapatos para niños y niñas hasta la edad de 10 ó 12 años. Era una ayuda relativamente fácil de conseguir incluso en tiempos de crisis, no perecedera y actuábamos sobre un colectivo siempre necesitado en los lugares de conflicto. Además al actuar sobre la primera infancia no trastocamos costumbres ni hábitos ya que la globalización nos viste a todos por igual en esas edades.
Con esta idea diseñamos una campaña que bautizamos como “Niños de Afganistán.” Tenía como fin utilizar la infraestructura y logística del Ejército Español para colocar la ropa en Herat (nuestra base en aquel país) y su colaboración para la distribución en destino.
La publicidad se hizo a través de la oficina del gobernador para todo el Distrito 2203. En Jávea, recogimos ropa gracias a la colaboración de profesores y asociaciones de padres de varios colegios, (Mª Inmaculada, Amanecer y El Graül), aparte de varias personas a nivel de colaboración individual.
 Pero también se engancharon al carro solidario en Palma de Mallorca el club Palma Almudaina y el Ramón Lull, el de Val de Uxó en Castellón, Benisa/Teulada, Calpe, Denia, Elda Vinalopó (donde la asociación de fabricantes de calzado nos regaló 1.000 pares de zapatos), Torrevieja y Granada.
El primer envío se realizó a través de la base de Alcantarilla en Murcia por parte del club de Jávea y en un cuartel del ET en Mallorca, pero cuando el volumen de lo donado se hizo importante hubo que negociar con el ministerio de Defensa las condiciones del envío. Durante el mes de Mayo y Junio no se han realizado los vuelos con la asiduidad anterior. El cambio de presidente en Estados Unidos también ha reflejado un cambio de la actividad militar de EEUU en ese país que de alguna manera nos repercute. España cambiará la ubicación de su Base. Somos conscientes de que nuestros envíos pasan a un segundo plano. Pero no les quepa duda de que el material recogido que todavía queda por enviar, poco a poco les irá llegando.
El motivo de este pequeño informe es hacerles partícipes de nuestra gran satisfacción por haber colocado la primera parte del envío en su destino.
El pasado día 7 de julio, (San Fermín para los Pamploneses) nuestro amigo el Tte. J.M. Recio hizo la entrega de la ropa recibida a profesores de un orfanato de la localidad de Herat que acudieron  a la base con 15 niños en representación de los 200 acogidos en la institución.
Nuestro sueño ha empezado a hacerse realidad. El tiempo de servicio en Afganistán del Tte. Recio está acabando pero el proyecto seguirá en las manos de sus sucesores.
No es un destino fácil ni cómodo para él y desde aquí queremos agradecerle su espíritu solidario aún en condiciones tan adversas. Ha demostrado que el espíritu de trabajo, entrega y dignidad que demostró durante su estancia entre nosotros lo ha sabido incrementar con esta faceta humanitaria. Le esperamos para que pueda contarnos de primera mano la experiencia vivida durante estos meses.
Desde el club Rotary de Jávea queremos dar las gracias, una vez más, a todos los Clubes rotarios y a todas aquellas personas que nos ayudan en nuestros proyectos, tanto locales como internacionales, colaborando con su interés y esfuerzo personal. AFGHANISTAN PROJECT, A DREAM COME TRUE.

  
Shortly after Tte. José Manuel Recio (Lieutenant of the Guardia Civil in Javea for years) leaving to his  destination in Afghanistan, contacted his former colleagues from the Javea Rotary club for their help in the idea of contributing with something positive to people's lives close to the Afghan military base. We discussed the different possibilities, food, utensils, clothes ... and what collective focus on. 
We decided to send clothes and shoes for children up to age 10 or 12 years. It was a relatively easy to get help even in times of crisis, non-perishable and acted on a collective always in need in places of conflict. In addition, acting on early childhood did not disrupt habits or customs as globalization dresses us all alike at these ages.
With this in mind we designed a campaign dubbed "Children of Afghanistan." It intended to use the infrastructure and logistics of the Spanish Army to take the clothes to Herat (our base in that country) and their collaboration for the distribution at destination.
Advertising was done through the governor's office for the District 2203. In Javea, collected clothing through the collaborative efforts of teachers and parents' associations of various schools, (M ª Inmaculada, Amanecer and The Graül), apart from several people at the level of individual cooperation. 
But also hooked to the car at Palma de Mallorca Palma Almudaina club and Ramon Lull, the Val de Uxó in Castellon, Benisa / Teulada, Calpe, Denia, Elda Vinalopó (where the association of footwear manufacturers gave us 1,000 pairs shoes), Torrevieja and Granada.
The first shipment was made through the base of Alcantarilla Murcia by the club in Javea and a quarter of ET in Majorca, but when the volume of donated was important, we had to negotiate with the Ministry of Defense of the conditions shipment. During the month of May and June there have been no flights with the previous attendance. The change of president in United States has also reflected a change in U.S. military activity in that country and in some way affects us. Spain changed the location of its base. We realize that our shipments go to the background. But no doubt that the material collected remains to be sent, they will gradually arrive.
The reason for this brief report is to share with you our great satisfaction for having placed the first part of the shipment at its destination.
On the July 7, (Pamplona for San Fermin) our friend Tte. J.M. Recio took delivery of the clothing received to teachers from an orphanage in the town of Herat who visited the base with 15 children representing the 200 received in the institution.
Our dream has started to become reality. The service time in Afghanistan's Tte. Recio is running, but the project remains in the hands of his successors.
Not an easy or comfortable destination but from here we thank him for his spirit of solidarity even in such adverse conditions. Has shown that the work spirit, dedication and dignity he showed during his stay among us was able to increase this humanitarian aspect. We wait for him be able to tell us first hand experience during these months.
